Bernell Vision Trainer
The Vision Trainer can serve as several instruments .
1) It has the same optics as the Bernell-O-Scope, but includes testing and training cards unique to the BVT.
2) It is a light box to both hold and illuminate vectographic and tranalgylphic cards, both fixed and variable-like Dual polochrome. But, it can also be used as a writing board for tracings.
3) It is a white background, posture board trainer, which can hold the red clipboard to allow regular or anaglyph tracings.
4) It is a Cheiroscope which allows right or left hand eye tracings.

ESC2000 Illuminated ETDRS Clinical Trial Cabinet
The ESC2000 Illuminator Cabinet provides a uniform retro-illuminated testing surface, ideal for clinical testing of high Contrast and low Contrast LogMAR tests, including ETDRS, LEA SYMBOLS®, LEA NUMBERS®, E and C Charts, etc. The cabinet utilizes a pure-white LED light source. This illuminator, due to the use of new technology LEDs, has a much smaller footprint (only 3.0 inches deep) than traditional ETDRS, light boxes. Previous illuminator cabinets use outdated “off the shelf” fluorescent bulbs, which due to the size of the bulbs and short bulb life, require a much larger cabinet (8 inches deep) and are more costly to operate.

Developmental Eye Movement Test DEM
Bernell’s exclusive DEM™ test provides an objective method of assessing fixational and saccadic activity during reading and non-reading tasks.
The Developmental Eye Movement Test incorporates a sub-test of number calling in a vertical array which provides the means to evaluate oculomotor function with numbers in a horizontal array. The DEM™ was developed by Dr. Jack Richman, OD and Dr. Ralph Garzia, OD.
Test comes with a Manual (2nd Edition) which includes instructions as well as 60+ pages of tables of standards based on age and grade level. Some case histories and clinical treatment considerations are also presented. Also included is scoring software which displays the comparisons to standardized scores as shown in the 60+ pages of tables. The software saves time and prevents errors in reading the many tables. Please note: the software is only compatible with Windows and is not supported on Mac. A pad of 25 evaluation sheets also comes with the test. Additional scoring sheets may be purchased.
Update: we were recently made aware of a printing error that occurred during the printing of the Version 2.5 manuals. The printing error occurred on the first page of Table 4 “Vertical Time AGE 9.0 – 9.11”. This was correct in previous versions of the manual and has since been corrected in Version 2.7 and after. However, if you purchased a Version 2.5 manual then you may download this pdf with the updated pages.Click here to download
Additional note: There was a repeating error in the 2015 scoring software that caused it to list the H/V ratios for grade levels as the same percentiles. This has been corrected, as well as some other tweaks to the software to improve the layout. If you purchased a DEM after November 1st, 2015 or purchased the scorer software alone, please contact Bernell’s Customer Service to get a link to download the new software update.
