Wolff Wands provide specialized Fixation targets used in various procedures such as Retinoscopy, Cover Test, and Ocular Motility. Various techniques employ the wands to evaluate accommodative lag, anisometropia, near point convergence, tracking, peripheral awareness and saccadic eye movements.
The basic Wolff Wand set contains a 1/2 inch (13 mm) polished brass ball and a silver nickel-plated ball on each end of 10 1/2 inch (28 cm) steel rods. The rods are made of aluminum for durability. The balls are polished to permit fixation on either the ball or the patient’s image in the shiny ball.
