These Sloan Letter adult low contrast testing charts are identical to the measurement of visual acuity at a high contrast level; i.e., measures the smallest size of the optotypes that the person can recognize. The 2.5% test is the most practical test in clinical use. Line sizes range from 10/80 to 10/5 (3/42 to 3/1.5) equivalent. The other equivalents featured on this chart are letter size, 20 foot, 6 meter, decimal, and LogMAR. These charts are available in 1.25%, 2.5%, 5%, 10%, and 25% Contrast levels. Mayer Kran Double Happy Low Contrast Test
The Mayer-Kran Double-Happy Low Contrast Test is intended for children and older individuals who are unable to name or match letters, that is, individuals who cannot be tested with standard letter contrast tests. The test cards are printed with a smiling schematic face offset from the center of the card; the face is identical when the card is rotated 180 deg. This format is like the Teller Acuity Cards* and enables testing using a similar procedure. OSU Ohio Contrast Cards Set of 11 Cards
For the Ohio Contrast Cards contrast sensitivity test, we chose a very low spatial frequency square wave because human contrast sensitivity, when measured with square-wave gratings, is empirically high and constant over a wide range of very low spatial frequencies. 5,17–19 Therefore, the visibility of a square-wave grating does not depend very much on spatial frequency over this range (red squares and it is much closer to the peak value of the contrast sensitivity function than what is reported for sine wave stimuli (compare red squares and blue diamonds. A, which we show because those authors also used large stimuli and unlimited viewing time; see also Carney et al. 20 and Watson and Ahumada 21. The red curve. A was predicted by the standard model of contrast detection 20,21 applied to square waves of constant area, fitted to the square-wave data. A by transposing it rigidly relative to log axes to minimize the sum of squared residuals.
