The new MIT 2, is an improved version of the original Macula Integrity Tester for training and testing eccentric fixation. The MIT 2 consists of a separate rotating Polaroid unit and electronic control box. This allows the filters and light source to be placed behind the rotating Polaroid, which makes the Haidinger brush much easier to see. Another new improvement is a control box which allows for speed changes and reversal of the rotation of the brush. An LED flashlight is included for a new technique of pursuit training. This is done by moving the light source, while having the patient track the dot and keep the brush rotating around it. The MIT 2 also comes with all the cards and targets which were included with the original MIT. Light box includes a built-in Worth 4 Dot Test. Replacement parts are sold separately.
Benefits of the MIT 2 over the original MIT™:
- Much easier to see the Hadinger Brush
- Ability to move blue filter between 3 locations to vary difficulty of viewing the brush.
- Control speed of rotations as well as reverse rotation
- Pursuit training with LED flashlight
- Exo training using a distant light source
